July 2019 – Las Vegas – August 6 is the day for Las Vegas business owners to master their business. The new educational series “Master Your Business” is presented as a partnership between BBSI, the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce and Nevada Dept. of Business and Industry.

To be held in the Metro Chamber conference room (575 Symphony Park), “Master Your Business” is designed for owners of small- to medium-sized businesses. The topic for August 6 is Human Resources and our Changing Governance, and will be presented by Cheryl Laws, human resources manager, BBSI. BBSI partners with businesses to develop a blueprint for success that includes workers’ compensation, human resources, payroll and risk management.

She will address important laws going to effect in 2020 including minimum wage increases, paid time off and pre-employment drug testing. Laws will also discuss common mistakes by employers in terms of wages, termination and non-standard deductions, as well as working with independent contractors.

“Master Your Business” is from 7:30-9 a.m. August 6 and includes breakfast. Limited to 35 guests, registration details may be found online. The fee is $10; the first business owner to register for each session will select a charity of their choice to receive the proceeds from the session they attend.

Future sessions will be held the first Tuesday of each month. Topics will be chosen by the attendees.
