At the official ribbon cutting ceremony in August for the new BBSI office, a yellow ribbon was used. Out of several color choices presented by the Las Vegas Metro Chamber, we chose yellow. Why? Studies show that the meaning of yellow is warmth, cheerfulness and increased mental activity. Yellow is also said to help activate the memory, encourage communication and build confidence. Those are great things to encourage in a workplace!
In my previous career in spa and hospitality, I was involved in numerous new builds and renovations where color therapy was used to evoke certain emotions. Our goal with BBSI’s office was to use colors – yellow, purple, red and green – to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that encouraged energy, brainstorming and collaboration. We also wanted an office that was not “cookie-cutter” in design and aligned with Las Vegas’s colorful atmosphere. As you can see in the photos, we believe we met our goal!

Months of planning went into the office décor. The talented, Las-Vegas-based interior designer Sigrid Insull Lucking led us on shopping trips that included antique and resale stores. Some of the pieces we found have fantastic stories:

  • A French Provincial-style desk that was owned by Pia Zadora.
  • The neon grandfather clock.
  • The numerous paintings hung around the office are contemporary, lively and likely have great stories from previous owners.

A one-of-a-kind piece we had made is a metal mobile. Hanging in the Ruby Room, the mobile was made by a craftsman with Hotchkiss Mobiles in West Stockbridge, MA. And, yes, each conference room has a theme and name, including the Amethyst and Diamond Rooms.

You may be building a new office or considering a renovation, we’d love to share a tour of our space with you and invite you to see our office first-hand. Please drop me a note at to schedule a tour and meeting.
